<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 10pt"><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 14pt; COLOR: black; LINE-HEIGHT: 115%; FONT-FAMILY: 'Brush Script MT'; mso-themecolor: text1">municipio se tiene conocimiento fueron ocupadas por los “chaco jomas” grupo de Kaqchiqueles procedentes de Zacualpa, que había formado una unidad política independiente de Iximché.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Surgió este denominándose inicialmente como “yampuc”.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Formándose un nuevo reino Yampuc, que abarcó gran parte de los actuales departamentos de Chichicastenango, Sacatepéquez, Guatemala.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Fue Pedro<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Ramírez de Quiñonez en 1540, el encomendado a convencer a los caciques para la organización de los pueblos, con las características que aun hoy en día se conservan nombrándolo según el “Santo” de la Fecha de la fundación; así fue como surgió este municipio en 1549 conservando su nombre original, con la diferencia de agregarle “San Pedro “ por el nombre del santo<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>y la letra “A”.<o:p></o:p></SPAN></p>
<p><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 14pt; COLOR: black; LINE-HEIGHT: 115%; FONT-FAMILY: 'Brush Script MT'; mso-themecolor: text1">El termino “Yampuc” en idioma Kaqchiquel significa “Lugar o Pueblo entre Cerros” Y el termino Ayampuc “Lugar de Serpiente”. Efectivamente el municipio de San Pedro Ayampuc está rodeado de cerros.<o:p></o:p></SPAN></p>

Es bien grande. Cuenta con dos doctores, varias enfermeras, una secretaria. Tiene su clínica y su farmacia donde le dan la medicina a las personas enfermas. La gente que visita el centro de salud es del pueblo y también de las villas que pertenecen a San Pedro y de otros lugares. Ya está terminado otro centro de salud para mujeres embarazadas, pero todavía no le han dado uso.</SPAN></p>
